It appears that this formation is probably somewhere in the Czech Republic. This image, Sezame otevři se was made in 2004 by photographer Jana Jurcová. The title translates “Open Sesame.”
Question: is Jana a feminine name in Czech? Something about these images whisper “self-portrait” to me.

Joni Sternbach. SurfLand.
Joni Sternbach was born in the Bronx, New York. She graduated from New York University/International Center of Photography with an M.A. in Photography in 1987. She was part of the adjunct faculty at New York University for over 20 years, and is currently a faculty member at ICP and the Center for Alternative photography teaching wet plate collodion.
